Edsel was created as a separate division by Ford Motor Company in 1958. Unfortunately for Ford 1958 was a recession year, not a good time to launch a new car company. To make matters worse is that the unconventional styling of the 1958 model's "horse collar" grill was not well received by the public. Early on Edsel was also plagued by quality and reliability issues. Edsel did sort out all of these issues but it was too late to save the marque and Edsel ended production in 1960.
The example in this photo is a 1958 Edsel Pacer which is one step up from the bottom of the range Ranger. The body is a two door hardtop and is painted in two tone black and salmon.
